Sometimes, it's easy to go an entire day without exercising AT ALL! It is bound to happen. One of those travel days, or a back-to-back-to-back meeting day. So, see what you can do to make it happen.
Whether you commute by bus/train or drive to work, consider parking a "little bit further away" from your office than normal. (Or, get off at one or two earlier stops.) You'll be able to walk a mile in about 15-20 minutes. You do this each way, and you just got your "1/2 an hour of exercise per day" in!
Oh, the great news is that you'll burn off about 100 (or more) calories each way. Do this for four weeks, and you'll notice your pants may be a "little looser!"
