Are you willing to participate in something big?
I just read through the entire issue of Fast Company...the first time I've done that with this particular magazine ever. In doing so, I wrote and submitted a letter to the editor. (Not sure if it will be published, but I thought I'd share my thoughts with his small community...)
I'll spare the bulk of the response here (I'll add it later in the post). Here's the punchline:
Who's willing to do what, this year, to make the world a better place?
I'll go first (and I'd love to collect anyone else's ideas):
I'm going to experience the power of gratitude. A little thanks, I know, goes a long, long way.
Dear Editor (and the entire FC Staff),
I believe action occurs at the confluence of "inspired" and "interested." The April issue was the first one I've read cover to cover, in one sitting. It might be the time of year, or perhaps that the early time change makes it seem like there are more hours in the day, but I am shaken to do something. First up: Write you to let you know. Second: Reach out to the small community I know and ask for volunteers. The question is short: Who's willing to do what, this year, to make the world a better place? I'll go first (and I'd love to collect anyone else's ideas):
I'm going to experience the power of gratitude. A little thanks, I know, goes a long, long way.
I know that great things happen when I look for, and then acknowledge, the greatness that surrounds me. From the people I spend most of my time with, to the stranger I pass walking down the street. Striving/intending to notice what's happening all around, and carrying an "attitude of gratitude" is something I'd like to do.
So, there's my focus for these next few months... What's yours?

Commodore,
Wow, thanks for adding this to the mix! I think having people notice the "benefits" could slowly shift the tide toward possibility and engagement.
I'm sure there is more to share...I'll go check out the comments on your blog!

funny, I was thinking the same thing today. I was going to do a post asking for readers to comment on something that happened to them today they benefited by, (i.e. a blessing, karma, paying it forward, positive affirmation, complement).
I go first, a woman let me into the pool for free since there was only a 1/2 hour left in the swim session. saved me $2.
