Where are you "right now?"

Of all the resources the universe provides, TIME seems to be the more valuable. So, to continue maximizing the investment you have made in your self, your work, your family - simply stated: your "Balanced Scorecard" - here is one way to objectively study your time.

This may be a great week to run an experiment called: "The Wheel of Focus." It is an important aspect of achieving - and then surpassing - a balanced life/work style.

Here you will identify 4 or more of the areas of your world that will take your TIME, ENERGY and FOCUS this week (or…this month, quarter, or year!).

First, on a scale of 1-10, decide where you are "right now" on each one. (Please note: This is a very subjective activity. If you measured your rating tomorrow night, or last week, it could be totally different!)

How to measure:

10 = I'm on top of my game, performing at 100%

1 = I should just give up now, eat some ice cream, and get back into bed

Once you have your numbers (for example, one week I marked myself a "4" on the Health continuum in the example here), the next process is to "objectify" and plan for your future experiences. Now, take one of the areas that you scored yourself lower.

Write a brief statement of what it "could be like" if you were at a "10."

Next, identify what it would be like to be at a "1."

If this sample worked like I've seen it in the past, your "1" may seem fairly familiar. You have probably been there - or close to it - in the past.

And, your "10" may seem like a pipe-dream; pie in the sky; something where you think, "YEAAAAAHHHHHH RIGHT!"

Now identify what it would be like to be at a "5." What would it look, sound or feel like if you were right in the middle?

Ok, you don't have to do this for each spoke of your "Wheel of Focus," (but you could!). But, what I encourage you to do, tomorrow and every morning for the next 5 days, is to look at the one you've chosen here. Review your rating at level one, then level five and finally level ten. Each morning, set an intention to reach above or beyond a number you pick.
