Is the "writing on the wall" for bloggers/blogging?

While in London last week, I picked up a copy of the GQ magazine and read an interesting article on pages 27-28 (February 2008 issue). Author Johnny Davis reports that "analysts predict blogging will reach saturation point this year."

I'm not sure exactly what he means by that, although I can imagine I'll be adding to this medium for some time to come. I enjoy the blogging world; I learn a lot about other people, other ways of live, other places...and more.

I would be interested, however, in hearing what readers thing: Is the writing on the wall for bloggers and blogging?

I don't think that blogging will ever hit a saturation point. However, people will have to dedicate more time to keep up with their favorite blogs. My few blog subscriptions turned into several hours a day of reading. If anything, the quality of blogs will have to improve just to cut through all of the extra noise.

Joe has a good point, only the dedicated bloggers will survive.

I wonder if this article was in response to the nonchalant blogger who creates a blog, posts a few times and then calls it a day. Rather than the folks who are trying to build a network of avid readers through the daily care and grooming of their blogs.
