Good people doing good things for our world...and I get to add value!

United   Way of Stanislaus       is a premier community impact organization that   mobilizes community involvement at all levels by engaging in strong   partnerships and collaborations.

The United Way of Stanislaus is co-sponsoring a Mastering Workplace Performance seminar tomorrow (26 March 2008). The Jason Womack Company is the "other" co-sponsor. So far, we have a room full of over 30 people who are planning to attend...more than 2 dozen people who are going to spend 3 hours "thinking about what they think about."

I am VERY excited to be a part of this event (we're donating the seminar free of charge...something we like to do once a month for good people doing good things). I have a quick favor to ask for anyone reading this blog...

Will you click on one or two of the links below and just see what some people are involved with on a daily basis? I was amazed and inspired by the level of engagement of some of these organizations!

Thank you in advance...

Jason,

Thank you for the great tips you presented at the United Way of Stanislaus County. I also have been reading the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. In regards to his first principle of DESIRE, Napoleon discusses the idea that "Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve." I remember Dr. Roberto Cruz, Sr. would say "If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, then I can achieve it" at many college campuses and to high school students in the Upward Bound program at the National Hispanic University in Eastside San Jose in California. I remember that he would always tell us this saying and in addition, "Si se puede! (Yes, it can be done)" a popularized saying by the late Cesar Chavez. I was just amazed that Dr. Roberto Cruz, Sr. had most likely read "Think and Grow Rich" and was already instilling some of the book's principles within my fellow peers at such a young age.
The principle of desire and the above sayings instilled in me fostered the motivation necessary to assist parents of Bret Harte Elementary to put on the Community Talk with Superintendent of Modesto City Schools, Dr. Arturo Flores. The event was the planning committee's first and a success in that approximately 150 parents of various schools throughout the city of Modesto (exceed the expected number) attend the event in January 2008. Previously, the event was held at the LOVE Church where only 9 people showed up. Those 9 individuals then became the planning committee (the committee also included the first group), composed of Superintendent of Modesto City Schools, Arturo Flores, Rev. Anderson, Principal Shirley Herrera, Parents of Bret hart Elementary School: Maria Lobato, Maggie Ordaz, Gilberta Camps, Silvia Serrato and Pauline Rath and myself.
The desire to see the event succeed and enthusiasm spread like an ever-burning flame. It was contagious and everyone did their part and contributed their ideas 100%. I remember Leticia Garcia, her family and myself going to El Rematito in Modesto placing flyers on cars to spread awareness of the event. Working with the planning committee, working as a team to follow through with the logistics of the event and ultimately seeing the results first hand was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I am now starting to understand concept of DESIRE and can't wait to read on to see the next.

Thank you,
