Did you give it your all?
A question I'm left asking myself after yesterday's workout...
I ran with a friend of mine (thanks again Ted) for about 40 minutes yesterday afternoon. Since I am home, it was my second workout of the day. I tend to get a morning and an afternoon/evening training session in each day I'm home.
(In between and after workouts is client meeting, writing, blogging and research time.)
When I got home after my workout, I cleaned up and sat down with a blank page of my journal.
"Did I give it my all?"
This was the question I wrote on the top of the page...
I then listed what I believe some of the "indicators" of being fully engaged are during a training session. Then, when I re-read the list, I realized that these indicators could be used for whatever I'm doing. In fact, read through this list, and then go back to what you were doing before you read this post. Only, when you go back to what you WERE doing, see how engaged you are!
Was I completely focused on what I was doing?
Did I "forget" some of the stressors/time-lines that I was managing?
Did I get to see something I have never seen before?
Did I get an idea, make a connection, or create something new while I was "there"?
These were the four questions I wrote down, and after my run with Ted...I realized the answer to all 4 was:
YES.
It was a good afternoon; but even better than that, a new reference point. (By the way, after writing - but before posting - this entry, I asked myself those four questions about what I just wrote! The answer: YES!)

Excellent post, Jason. I have a few I've been playing with:
Will I like myself better as a person after doing this?
Does this lead to feeling "no regrets?"
Cheers
