Who do you know who works in jobs that support students of all ages?

I am very excited to be one of several presenters at the Student Support Summer Leadership Institute. The week-long institute includes presentations by: Cathy Bray, Emily Desmond, Dr. Ken Gray, Dr. Esther Hugo, Dr. Carolyn Stone and Marie Tyra.

Here is a link to see the overview...

The presentation takes place on August 5th and is titled:

Improving Your Workplace Performance And Time Management Skills

I felt honored to get the invitation to present during this week; it brings back a lot of the memories I have of working as a master teacher, sports coach, and "resource-guy" for 7th-12th grade students throughout the 1990’s.

How do you get Microsoft Outlook to...

How do you get Microsoft Outlook to...

Oh, if I had a dollar for every time I've heard that! It seems that the moment I blend Psychology and Sociology (how we work by ourselves and how we work with others) with Technology, people come up with all sorts of new ways they want their digital systems to work.

So I promised a client I'd do this today...you know who you are!

If you want to experiment with managing your attention and intentions daily, consider launching Outlook into anything besides your email inbox.

I suggest people practice with the Outlook Dashboard ( see this link for a short video and 5 articles: www.OutlookDashboard.com ). This serves you tremendously by bringing forward just your most important predefined pieces of work for up-to-the-minute action and prioritization.

THEN go refocus on your "new" work by checking your Inbox. Do review your dashboard several times each day.

Guess where I am?

Guess where I am?

I was sitting having lunch here in New York, and started a conversation with someone sharing the table. I started talking about our company, and invited him to give me his card so I could send him our past newsletters (see the "library" link below).

It turns out, he had an idea to get us over the 3,000 mark...so, here goes!

We're just a few dozen subscribers shy of mailing our free newsletter out to 3,000 people every two (or so) weeks.

To sign up, please visit our library at www.jasonwomacklibrary.com ...and, tell a friend...I am going to send a free DVD (shop.jasonwomack.com ) to the 3,037th person to sign up!

(Yes, there IS a reason I put 37 in there...I'll share that later.)

What would happen if YOU were limited to, say, 20 minutes a day?

What would happen if YOU were limited to, say, 20 minutes a day?

Fun article in today's Wall Street Journal (Wed, Jul 30, 2008) by Lee Gomes.

I enjoyed the thinking that ensued as I started to consider the "distractfulness" (my word, not Lee's) of the Computer-Literate. I fall victim quite often...you know, when you hear someone say, "Oh, let me go look that up on the Internet really fast..." and then, you don't see them for another 45 minutes. Ever happen to you?

So, I'm thinkin' about this query from Mr. Gomes...what IF I only had 20 minutes on a computer a day?

Of course, those of you who know me, you know I'll experiment over the next few weeks...

20 minutes a day 2 hours a day Connected all day ...2 days AWAY from a computer completely (yes, including this BlackBerry)

The Wall Street Journal question of the day (www.wsj.com/Question) is:

Is it important for the president of the U.S. To use the Internet regularly?

Skeptical??? Welcome, please come in!

I recently opened my inbox to read this message (after one of our MWP seminars for a client in New York City):

I'm quite a big skeptic when it comes to these types of courses but I have to say the course that you delivered was absolutely beneficial!  It has most certainly increased my productivity and I enjoy using the email system that you have created!

We are running a "public" program in Portland later this summer, for an organization called High Performers...

Ever since teaching high school (another lifetime ago, it seems!), I've had a saying:

"Please be skeptical, but don't be critical. You just may find something you can use!"

So, when I read this short e-mail from a client, I wore a big smile on my face. I'm excited about the possibilities of sharing this information with more and more people. We're getting ready to launch another DVD (that's exciting) and by next January we'll have a completely new coaching and consulting program for clients who want to maximize their health/fitness AND the productivity/careers...

Here's to the future!

I'll admit it, I cried...and it came on suddenly!

So, living in Mexico (twice) and Argentina (once) I have to admit a special affinity toward anything "Latin-American." When Jodi forwarded me this and wrote, "Short 5 min film, very sweet" as the subject line, I figured I'd get to it when I had time.

Director : Alonso Alvarez Barreda
Running Time : 04:50
Year : 2007
Country : Mexico/ U.S.A
Category : Short film

So, I just watched it, and for the first 4.25 minutes, watched from a distance (and semi-distracted) until the end. And then, "WHAM"...my heart took a leap and tears started.

Please, if you wouldn't mind, take 4 minutes and 50 seconds and follow the story of a sign...I think you'll appreciate it.

A "photograph" show at the New York Public Library

Has anyone seen this exhibition yet? I walked by, and although I don't immediately recognize the artists, I am intrigued by the title of the show. I'm only here one night (I fly to London tomorrow evening), so I'll miss it this week.

Maybe during my August visit.

If you have seen the exhibit, leave a comment, I'd love to hear what you think!

So, I'm loving this new piece of technology...the Amazon Kindle book reader. Over the past couple of months, I've been building/moving my library over to the Kindle, so that I can walk around with my top books.

I've written about my Kindle here on this blog (and over at the www.JasonRecommends.com site). If you're thinking about getting one, let me know, I have a few (positive!) comments.

TeleSeminar - last minute notice - today!

Here's the invitation that went out to a small group at a couple of organizations we work with. We have room for about 20 more people to call in...if you can make it, great!

Please join us on Monday, July 28th, at 2pm for our 2nd TeleSeminar with Jason Womack. Jason will share some of his ideas on Personal Performance as they relate to being Fit and Effective (www.FitAndEffective.com).

Jason is going to meet with us for a few minutes (10 minute presentation, 5 minutes of Question/Answer) in between his trips – he’ll just be returning from Washington DC, and he leaves for London the next day!

Please call in about 5 minutes early, just to get entered into the call and to get ready for our TeleConference. How do you do it? Pretty simple:

Portland, OR - September 9, 2008: Two Presentations

Hello to the Pacific Northwest! I'll be in Portland for a few days in September, and wanted to "spread the word" about a couple of events people may be interested in attending. I am very excited about both events; the first one is a customized presentation that I've been presenting since 2007. The second one is a "sneak preview" of a presentation we'll begin offering in January of 2009!

The morning presentation:
“Maximizing Workplace Performance” Jason’s renowned signature seminar is presented throughout the US and around the world. It focuses on three distinct areas of workflow control and increased productivity.

And the afternoon:
"Get a Life! How Busy People Manage a Fulfilling Personal Life With a Successful Career" Alright, alright- we know you have a very demanding career that leaves little time for family, friends or hobbies. Just because most people don't have a very good balance between their work and their life doesn't mean you need to join them!

For more information on both events, just click here! (Or, click on the picture below for an overview of the morning presentation...)
