Training

One of my favorite "workouts" in NYC

I will tell ya, I love running through Central Park. Here's a picture (and a link) to last Saturday's run. Anyone interested in running on June 9 when I'm back in town? Just drop a line...

Did you give it your all?

A question I'm left asking myself after yesterday's workout...

I ran with a friend of mine (thanks again Ted) for about 40 minutes yesterday afternoon. Since I am home, it was my second workout of the day. I tend to get a morning and an afternoon/evening training session in each day I'm home.

(In between and after workouts is client meeting, writing, blogging and research time.)

When I got home after my workout, I cleaned up and sat down with a blank page of my journal.

"Did I give it my all?"

This was the question I wrote on the top of the page...

I then listed what I believe some of the "indicators" of being fully engaged are during a training session. Then, when I re-read the list, I realized that these indicators could be used for whatever I'm doing. In fact, read through this list, and then go back to what you were doing before you read this post. Only, when you go back to what you WERE doing, see how engaged you are!

Thank you, Jack Quinn and Colorado Springs

I just got back from a great little 5K run through town with one of my triathlon coaches here in Colorado Springs. If you ever get a chance, come to the Springs on a Tuesday night...for more info, click here.

Jackquinn The course is well described, but I tell ya...I simply followed the HUNDREDS of people in front of and around me.

A fun night, and now it's time to rest up for my five-day triathlon camp to get underway starting at 8am on 05/7/2008!

What's your inspiration?

Hey,

You...

Did you make a New Year's Resolution?

C'mon, what was it you thought you'd do more of (or less of!?) this year?

If you and I are at all alike, we get ideas of we could do - personally OR professionally - and yet we seem to run out of time before we can make all the progress we wanted to ON those goals.

I went to my local athletic club last week while I was home, and I even got one spinning class in before I left for London. If you look at this picture I took of the wall (and window) of the spinning room, you'll see one thing that continues to inspire and motivate me to continue training...

My (second) run through Kensington Park

Here's a map of my run today! It was a nice one, the sun was out, I saw a bunch of other runners, and I found the DOG PARK! It made me miss my Zuma...

Human Touch Robotic Massage Chairs and Triathlon...

What happens when you cross ultimate comfort and relaxation with the sport that pushes me to wake up before the sun comes up to get "another" workout done before presenting seminars on Workplace Performance?

You get this advertisement!

Humantouchroboticmassage

I've been training for triathlon, traveling 200+ days a year, AND sitting in my robotic massage chair for about 4 years now. (Well, not all of those things simultaneously!) But I will tell ya, it's great to home from a trip, a long day at the office, or another race and sit in my chair for a good 15-20 minutes...

If you've ever wondered what it really feels like to come home and completely unwind, check out one of their massage chairs!

What does BEST mean to you?

Does it have to be better?
Does it mean you're stronger?
Would you you have to go faster?
If it was "the best," would it mean it was easier?

This morning I realized that my best may or may not fit into one of the above categories...but, my best will always be different than what I have done before!

I left my house with about 80 minutes to spare. I rode my bike 11.5 miles to the start of the 10K race I was going to run. I arrived in time to get about 12 minutes of warm-up time. (*Warming up for a 10, today, consisted of: 5X100 "kicks," and about 6 minutes of easy jogging.)

At the go signal, I went out with the second group. We were running about 9MPH or so. I then settled into an easy pace I thought I could sustain. At about the one mile mark, I passed 3 people who had gone out with the lead group..."Hey, look," I thought, "I'm getting better!"

Thank you, Ottawa!

Thankyouottawa
Well, I'm getting ready to fly away from a beautiful city...the sun is shining, and from my hotel room I can see two waterways.

After the Mastering Workplace Performance seminar
yesterday, I did have time to get out for a run. It was chilly, but I packed my "winter" gear. What was inspiring (and amazing) was to see my fellow runners out there in t-shirts and shorts!

November really started off well with a seminar sponsored by OCRI, and attended by over 50 professionals from in and around Ottawa. I'm already looking forward to returning!

Engaged means you don't have enough time

For those of us who wake up engaged, inspired or ready for the day... What do you think about that title?

I'm open to hearing what you think about a question I read in an e-mail I received this morning. A longer note, I'll copy the question that encouraged me to write this blog entry here:

How do you make time for all the things you want to do?

If we had time for all the things we want to do, the world - our world - would be a very different place. If we had the money to buy the things we wanted, the relationships to feel what we wanted, the resources to create what we wanted...

But...we don't. And, that's the beauty of it! Think for a moment, who DOES have enough time? You'll have your answer, here's the one I've come up with...

Running in Hemingford Abbots, UK

Link: Running in Hemingford Abbots, UK

While visiting friends who live near Cambridge, I went out one morning for a light jog through the small town they live in...Hemingford Abbots.

Before I knew it, I was in the (next) small town of St. Ives, and I saw a large statue of Oliver Cromwell. Turns out he lived here for about 5 years, "way back when!" Here's a picture:
