Would you like to attend a Mastering Workplace Performance Event? (In Phoenix, AZ)

I am presenting a workshop next week in Phoenix, Arizona.

An organization called High Achievers is sponsoring a 3-hour Mastering Workplace Performance seminar December 4th, from 8am to 11am. OnStageVegas01.jpg

Click to find out more about this event, and to sign up for the presentation.

It is actually an open seminar, and the “price is right!”

If there's anybody there at work who you know would like to come, please pass this along to them.

Also, if you have any other contacts in the Phoenix area, please feel free to pass this along...we’re hoping to “fill the room!”

On to another day of seminar-ing in Europe

On my way to work, I'm reflecting on a wonderful day here in Zurich yesterday! JWInZurich01.jpg

After spending a good 7 hours out-and-about, including a wonderful, local lunch and a movie (in one of the most amazing movie theaters I've been in ever!), we even got a little snow late in the day!

This is an amazing town, and with a month before the big Christmas holiday, the streets and stores are already in full swing; decorations, sales, and shopping is going non-stop! (Though, I have to admit I was surprised by how many stores were closed yesterday...I mean, I know they all close on Sundays, but...it would seem like with the economy and all...)

So, off to the office at St. Peter's Place!

Social hour - London: Marriott West India Quay

If you're anywhere nearby tonight - Thursday, 20 Nov 2008 - come on by at 6pm for a quick "hello" while we're in town.

I am presenting seminars, while Jodi is meeting with coaching clients...spreading the word about Mastering Workplace Performance! It's busy times, and we're happy to be working in London. See you tonight!

Joy in New York City - in the form of Gerber Daisies

Joy in New York City - in the form of Gerber Daisies

While Joe (www.thinking-forward.com) and I were walking through Union Square last week, I stopped long enough to "see" the flowers.

Now that I'm back in California, and the fall months are on the way, I'm holding on to these kinds of pictures (physical and mental) more and more!

Happy Friday, everyone...

Pennsylvania Station, NYC on my way to Boston!

Pennsylvania Station, NYC on my way to Boston!

There is something about my travel days (over 150 flights a year is normal - 178 in 2006 alone!) that is relaxing...

Maybe it's the feeling that for the next [ # ] hours, I will be taken care of by someone/a group of professionals who have dedicated themselves to effectively and efficiently getting from point A to point B.

Maybe...I enjoy seeing things outside of normal, routine, or expected. I enjoy finding a new book, talking to someone I just met, or simply taking advantage of a little bit of time to relax, meditate, think, plan, innovate, connect...you know, what most people do when they say they're "doing nothing."

More and more these days, people ask me: Isn't it HARD to travel these days? Well, it's as hard as I make it:

If I wait until the last minute to make plans, I run the risk of spending more money for the tickets.

If I try and do "one more thing" at the office or in the hotel room, I run the risk of stressing myself out trying to arrive on time.

If I EXPECT things to be, go, or result in a specific way, I run the risk of dis-appointment.

So, instead of living a risky life...I'm here by 'bout 9:20am for a 10am train to Boston. See ya there!

(Side note...wore my TypePad / SixApart t-shirt 'cause I'd planned to post on the weblog some time today!)

Well, the Met was as amazing as ever today. I got to see it again through the eyes of a "first-timer's" visit. Joe Bruzzese had some meetings here this week  (www.thinking-forward.com) as he is preparing some presentations for the United Nations International School as well as a couple of NYC banks.

While at the museum, we spent some time in different wings...I still find my favorite to be the marble-carved statues!

We're off to see Avenue Q this evening...it's gonna be great!

Running in London on Saturday, 2 August 2008

Well, as long as the weather cooperates, I'm going to get out and do a "run of the parks" this Saturday. I'm here in London through the weekend, and would love to get any recommendations for a running route from someone "local." Please leave a comment below, or contact me directly.

Here's a map of my last "London Parks Run."

The landscape of Colorado is amazing. I stopped about 13 miles outside of Telluride, CO for a few minutes. As I was about to start riding again, I looked to my right, and here's the view I saw. (Click on the picture for a larger view...)

Hiltl - A great restaurant in Zurich

So, I won't even pre-tend I can understand this language (click on the link below); however, after eating dinner at Hiltl and talking to some customers as well as the people who worked there, this restaurant has some serious history to go along with an eating adventure! (Just take a look at these pictures! Click here...)

Above, a picture of just one of the 6 rows of offerings last week...when I return to Zurich (this year?!), I'm definitely making Hiltl one of my stops!

I went there on a recommendation (thanks John!) and enjoyed it so much I returned the next night to meet another client after work. The book (in many different languages) offers the most amazing recipes (and some GREAT pictures!).

If you travel, even a little bit, I think you'll laugh

Thanks to "The Flying Critic" for sharing this post on avoiding airline baggage-check fees recently. I laughed for about 60 seconds straight!
