Our family did this in July 1991 when we moved from North Carolina to Hawaii. We visited civil war battlefields across the south ending a Vicksburg. The next stop was Carlsbad Caverns. Then we visited my mother in San Diego. From there we drove highway 1 all the way to Seattle. From Seattle we took Matson, where the highway never ends.

We did that when we moved from Oklahoma to Washington. We drove across to Yosemite, then to San Francisco, and took PCH all they to the northern part of Oregon. Man, what a drive!
