...at the same pace you've been working at for the past few months?
Recently, I presented a Workplace Performance seminar to a small group of senior executives (financial industry) in Dallas, TX. By the afternoon, we were deep in discussion on the topic of work/life balance and the impact of the current economic outlook.
Working overtime, getting more done, being available on weekends and during the evenings...it all goes into keeping a "nervous" client base close at hand.
If you can, back away during the coming weekend. Look around, and study the sustainability of your Workplace Performance. Google that term, and see what ideas you can find to find ways to do more...with less.
It's what everyone is expecting, anyway!
Randall,
Great point. You know, I'm running into this in almost all sectors - education, health care, entrepreneurs, and more.
Thanks for sharing your perspective!

It's not just financial industry executives that work evenings and weekends. I'm a comptroller for a Federal government office. I come to work early, leave late, have a government computer at home for work, and a PDA to stay in touch 24/7. As my office has satellite offices in the Far East and Southeast Asia, I often get called in the middle of the night. I really need to do something about work/life balance.
