Where are you? What are your coordinates in space AND time?
There at two things I trust to make a difference in my life, career, experience, relationships, finances, health, happiness and more...
1. What I see (hear, and do);
2. Who I meet (work with, and mentor).
Studying ourselves - becoming a scientist of our own working-living experiences - is well worth the cost (usually, just a little bit of time and attention).
Step out into the world with all your awarenesses: Visual, Audio, and Kinesthetic. See, hear, and do what you can to learn from it, engage with it, and give back to it.
Then, meet more people. One a week? Too many? Ok, how about meeting one new person a month. Attend a networking event. Go to a conference. Ask one of your friends, "Who do you know who..." and fill in that last part with some big project you'd like to take on.
Work with someone on some side project. Write an article. Make a map of local _________s (restaurant, museum, park, bar, etc). Plan a volunteer or charity event with someone else or a group of people.
Finally: Be. There. Work with someone as a mentor, teacher, guide, teacher. It could be someone very close to you like a family member or friend. Or, perhaps you visit the local library / volunteer center and join their 5-week (or whatever...) after school/weekend program.
Just those two things...they have changed my life. For the better.
