How sure are you of your own Productivity Practices?
Is what you're doing at work...working? Intuitively, you already know of some things you could do/change/implement that would improve your workflow habits and daily routines. Now, as you think about those habits, you may realized that you're not DOING everything you're thinking about. So, now it's time to experiment.
In our seminars, I talk about the 5-day experiment. I even wrote about it a while back at www.5DayExperiment.com! (Of course, the "day" aspect of this is relative. For example, if I do something once a day, I try it for 5 days and then do some kind of assessment. Once a week...5 weeks. Once a month...5 months.) The important idea here is to be very deliberate about what you choose to take on. Of all the productivity and performance habits you are thinking of trying, pick just one and focus on it for the next 5 days.
Sure there's a temptation to change everything at once. We've all read a book, attended a class or worked with a teacher/coach/mentor and learned what we could be doing. The real gift we can give ourselves is to actually slow down...so we can speed up. Slow down, pick one thing to implement, experiment with it and assess its value.
What could you try, that you've been thinking of implementing, over the next 5 days?
