What are you focused on? I mean, what comes to mind when you have a few extra moments to think/reflect on what's going on?
There's a secret to productivity, and it has to do with commitment. When you sit down and really consider your MITs, your Most Important Things, what do you KNOW needs to be done by tomorrow...by the end of the week? First, write something down. Call it a to-do list, a priority list, a project list...whatever. Just get whatever is cycling around in your mind onto paper - or the computer screen. As you write, it might become a list of 10 things, or a 110 things...just keep going.
Once you have that BIG list, pick 2 or 3 things. When you limit yourself to what needs to be done in a short amount of time, you practice other Best Practices of productivity and workplace performance. Sure, you have a LOT to do, and that's where a daily dashboard will really come in to play! There are lots of ways to set up your dashboard...
If you use Microsoft® Outlook® or Lotus Notes, there are ways to set up the dashboard so you can see more of what's going on throughout your day on one computer monitor. If you're using a paper-based system, consider setting up some different sections on the page so you can easily prioritize for success.
How do you manage your day to get more of the right things done?
